M guess is that the it is not only Hays Central Appraisal District that is nervous, but every one across the state. This fight has the potential to cut the taxing authorities off at the knees. So keep up the good fight, not only for yourself, but for everyone that owns or rents property in the state of Texas.

It has come to my attention that information from the multiple listing service has been used to establish the value of my property.
This is unacceptable and I believe, unlawful. The Hays County Appraisal District has received a Cease and Desist letter from the Austin Board of Realtors, demanding that this private, legally protected information no longer be used by Hays CAD.
In addition, Texas is a Non-disclosure state and Texas Government Code 552.149 clearly limits how appraisal districts can use private, confidential information. It appears to me that the use of MLS data is a violation of state code and a crime according to the Texas Penal Code.
With this in mind, I hereby request that the value of my property be reassessed without the improper, illegal data being considered.
